New Year’s River Party will be a night to rememberFriday, December 25, 2015
The free New Year’s Eve River Party at the Bluewater Quay will have something to offer the whole family.
This Thursday, from 6pm to midnight, the Quay will come alive with live music, rides, amazing fireworks, food, an extended licensed area and market stalls.
The live entertainment never stops and crowds will be rocked from start to finish by Jon English and band, Mango Junction, kids’ act Boomstars from Adelaide, Missdemeanour and Oliver Carter-Beck.
Festival, Events and The Arts portfolio councillor Chris Bonanno said there would be two fireworks displays this year.
“This is a family-friendly event and we realise that most of the little ones won’t see the New Year in,” Cr Bonanno said.
“With that in mind, there will be a magnificent early bird fireworks display at 9pm as well as the much-loved midnight display.”
Cr Bonanno said the Quay area would have a real festival feel.
“The market stalls, food vendors and amusement rides will mean families can wander around and explore before they go and dance the night away in front of the stage,” he said.
“Entertainment wise, it’s a real mix.
“The Boomstars are a very talented young group that will put big smiles on the kids’ faces.
“And in Jon English, we have one of the Australian music industry’s most entertaining stage performers.
“He’s not just a talented musician – he’s played leading roles in musicals such as Pirates of Penzance and Jesus Christ Superstar.”
There will be an extended licenced area at the Quay that will allow revellers to enjoy the music.
The New Year’s Eve River Party is proudly supported by Mackay Regional Council.
Entry is free; however, rides and the jumping castles are not.
