Christmas decorations to add festive cheerFriday, November 2, 2018
Christmas Grinches beware – decorations for the festive season will start going up throughout the Mackay region from this weekend.
But don’t panic – the November appearance of some decorations isn’t a cheap marketing ploy and there is still plenty of time to do your Christmas shopping.
Council always starts erecting Christmas decorations in November because it is such a big job and needs to be done at times which won’t inconvenience the public.
The long lead time is needed to ensure the decorations are in place right throughout the region by December 1.
The work will be done during weekends in November, with most of the banner and pole unit installations done in the early hours or mornings.
The public are asked to be aware of staff working close to the side of streets when the installations are being done.
Some of this year’s Christmas decorations include:
- Christmas tree at Bluewater Quay
- Festive Banners
- Pole units
- Garland at Bluewater Quay
- Garlands and bowties in the City Centre
