Car parking

Mackay City Centre has 2,500 free, timed on-street car parking available for short-term use from 30 minutes to 3 hours.

There is also 62 parking spaces at the rear of the Dudley Denny City Library.  These are also free, and have a limit of 3 hours.

For longer term parking, off-street parking is available at the following council car parks:

  • Corner of Gordon and Gregory streets
  • Corner of River and Gregory streets
  • Corner of Brisbane and River streets
  • Corner of Gordon and Wood streets

Paid parking applies Monday to Friday at these locations, and parking is free on weekends.  Parking is 70c per hour, and a maximum of $5 per day.  There is a maximum 4 hour limit in the carpark on the corner of Gordon and Wood Streets, and there are no limits on all of the other carparks.

Payment for parking in council’s off-street carparks is made through PayStay.  PayStay is an easy to use pay-by-phone parking system that is suitable for individual users as well as corporate users and fleet managers.  There are four simple options you can use to pay for parking, including the mobile phone app, through the PayStay website, SMS or phone call.

Coin-operated machines are also located in the Gordon/Gregory Street carpark and the Gregory/Wood Street carpark.  The machines allow users to pay for parking in these carparks without the need to use the PayStay system.
