Active In The City
There are plenty of ways to get Active in the City! From running, self-guided walking tours, to Zumba, our Active in the City program will keep you just that – active!
An initiative of Mackay Regional Council in partnership with city businesses, this ever-changing program provides a range of fun and exciting physical activities free of charge for one and all to enjoy.
It’s a great way to try your hand at a new sport, meet new people, explore the city and stay fit and healthy all at the same time.
All activities cater for varying levels of fitness and ability and are suitable for beginners.
Our current program includes:
- Zumba Fitness with Elena at Bluewater Quay every Sunday, 9am – 10am
- Learn to Run with the LRC Running Club. The next 11-week program commences on July 8 but you can join the group at any time. The group meets at 5.30am sharp on Tuesdays & Thursdays at City Fitness (1A Victoria Street) and 5.45am on Saturdays at Metro Cafe (River Street). For more information, visit the LRC Running Club Website
- From Monday July 10 you can also join Tai Chi in Wood Street Park from 5pm to 6pm. Wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes and don’t forget to bring your water bottle.
New activity providers are always welcome to join the program and can register their interest here.
